Very nice looking Nitro 10 matey..... you should get it up and purring!!!

Love the Cosworth body too.... probably the only big fat Schumacher body I don't have (yet....).

I'm a big fan of these.... so if you need any parts or upgrades, just let me know...

Wonder if the xtr 3 speed box and pro 21 engine would transplant easily onto that

I was just thinking the same!  You can see where the XTR3e has its origins can't you?

Interesting thought...... so I thought I'd check!

Took a NIP blue chassis (U1690W, super-sexy!) and plonked onto it the motor and 2-speed gearbox from my new half-built Nitro 21 (the first model, with the black steel chassis). All the holes line up perfectly, so it's easily possible. The motor plate does cover some of the large rectangular opening in the chassis, but that should not be an issue as the motor is a pull-start job.

Only thing to consider is that when Schumacher went to the .21, they made the chassis out of much more solid material than the earlier .12 and .15 powered trucks/cars. Could be due to chassis flex from the bigger, heavier motor....

Oh yeah, did I mention, the new in pack blue chassis plate looks sooo sexy?

lol...

Alex

Took on this project myself. Had and loved a Nitro 10 Mk3 with the Leo 12 engine that I had from new around 1995. Ran really well for a few years then had grief with getting the engine to run properly . Years later (2008!) decided to get her going again. Having seen how the Nitro 10 had evolved into the XTR3E I set about doing the honourable thing to get my 10 to hit 70 !

Mounted the Thunder Tiger 21 Pro engine on the new engine mount and ran it in single speed guise breifly before finding a 3 speed TT gearbox, uprated driveshafts, hubs etc from Fleebay.

It would probably have been cheaper to buy a 3E than it did to buy the parts tbh, but where's the fun in that?!

As sexy as the anodized blue chasis was, it was dissapointing for me to have to eventually chop it, in favour of the proper yellow XTR item due to the original not being anywhere near strong enough for the 21 power and speed.

I think the only original Nitro 10 items left running on the car are the suspension components!

P.S If anyone is considering doing this conversion from a nitro 10, or one of the earlier single speed XTR's, make sure you fit the wheelie bar, other wise you will find your pride and joy on its roof when it pulls away or hits second gear, as I and my engine heatsink found out!

Would post some pics but can't see how to do it? Havent got a fotobucket thingy set up.

Nice 'Scort Cossy shell BTW

Thread resurrection Tongue

if anyone is interested, that car ended at my place a few years back - I decided to use it as a parts donor for my many cougar restoration projects, I have things left for sale now:

- OS 10 FP BX + pull start + clutch + motor - $40 - missing main needle (!?!?)
- Escort Cosworth Body - to be honest, the holes are not positioned that well. Probably Frewer - $20
- Chassis - $25 - perfect but a small dark spot under the tank... not visible normally.
- Rear shock tower, plastic block for rx batt pack, motor mounting plate, transmission carter, fuel tank, and a few other bits-n-bobs - $20

PM me if interested, paypal only, will ship at cost from switzerland... cheers.

Paul
