Just been onto the "New Cars & Parts" section of the main site, alongside the "Fusion 28" there is now a "Fusion 28 turbo".  What the hell is the "turbo" and why have I never heard of it previously?

I'm guessing so.  It's priced differently to the Fusion 28...

hi guys, I recently bought a 28 Turbo engine for my moddded 28. From what i've found out the turbo engine is the only differance between the 2 cars... it has about .5 horsepower more than the standard 28...

Just finished running in Turbo engine... Time to start racing

So what is the difference between a standard plug and a turbo plug then?  And how does it work?

From what I can remember the turbo plug is longer, and along with
turbo head which I believe it thicker, combine to give more
compression and therefore more power.. I'm not sure if piston is
different in any way.

Turbo plugs have a more dome'ish head giving more of a loop charge ignition thus creating more bang and power allowing the engine to rev harder as well, But a bigger plus is no brass washer to help seal the plug in the head or head button. It seals on the cone against the head.

Thanks Blade.  Still a little unclear though; can these be fitted to any engine?  And if they give you gains over a normal plug, why are they not fitted as standard?

A lot of the newer top end engines have the choice of standard or turbo, I know novarossi do this but i rarely see "standard" plugs at a race meet. I know for a fact that the TTR engines Schumacher used were Standard only. I think price has a lot to do with it as Turbo plugs are dearer than standard for two reasons, The head button only needs a thread run through it and like i said before the brass washer seals the plug to the engine. Standard plugs are cheaper as they are easier to make, Most RTR engines come with a "standard" plug as they are slightly easier to tune as well being the head button is slightly more docile and not as touchy on the tuning needles... the good old RB 928 was a perfect example for this an absolute pig of a engine in turbo form, put the Standard head button on and the engine was a delight to run only down side was the power was off from the turbo head....
